    5 Random things I'll miss...

So I leave for Cali in a couple days but I feel like there's so much I have not "had enough of" this (long) holiday... Just a blink of an eye and 7 months gone, just like that. So many things I'll miss like :-

    Complete and utter idleness
How can anoyone ever get enough of laziness? I have lazed, but I haven't lazed enough damnit! Living at home means someone else cooks for me, does laundry for me, drives me around, does groceries for me. I almost never have to wake up early and get to go to sleep at whatever time I like. I can blare my music as loud as I like, any time, any day. I discovered that the peak time for Marilyn Manson is at right about 4.32am. I even got to start this blog cos I have so much time to waste. The very word "idle" is pronounced exactly like "idol", i.e; something to aspire to. Ah, the lazy life...

    Bak Kut Teh
I can't put into words how much I'll miss Bak Kut Teh ("pork rib tea" for those of you who don't know). I ate 3 bowls last Saturday but still, every ounce of my being craves for BKT... It's like having an edible high. The tastes shoot right up my senses... So yeah, it's all meat and no veggies but it's cooked in herbal soup and you can almost see the aroma floating tantalizingly out of the bowls of soup. I don't know exactly what medicinal values BKT has but I swear, it's like a meal of rejuvenation. No wonder all the old ah peks love this... Old school Redbull.

    My Guitars
Lame, but I really haven't played them much at all during this break. I might get a new one when I get there but the 2 I have right now are really so good. It's like having a girlfriend (in my case it would be girlfriends), you don't really want a new one until you've said a proper goodbye to the old one. You don't want the old one to just longingly wait for you while it gets dusty and wrinkled. But then again, knowing that you'd see it again gives you hope. *Sigh!*... such is the complexity of relationships...

    DVD's
Not going to elaborate too much on this (I'm too young to go to jail and orange is not my colour!) but I'm going to miss all the easily-available DVD's produced in Malaysia.

The disaster area I call my room
Probably the thing I will miss most. I really love my room. It's really bright and cheery and very "me". The worst part is that it might be the last time I see it because my parents are contemplating bulldozing the whole house. It's hard for me to picture my room, a boxfull of memories, a pile of rubble. Something which contained so much volume reduced to nothing. Maybe I think too much of it, but it's kind of like my childhood era being obliterated to be replaced by a more "mature" habitat (I've pretty much decided what my new room would look like when we rebuild the house and it's decidedly more adult than my current orange-peach-and-green themed room). And all my stuff. All gone.

    10 Random Likes

    The smell of new cars
They smell rich and luxurious, and oh-so-fulfilling. Literally breathing in newness. Getting into a new car and just soaking in the interior, running my fingers over the many textures; the hard wood panels and soft pores of the leather seats. I feel like technology doesn't have to be all steel and power - it can be comfort and protection, an eggshell exterior for us to melt into the interior.

    Tiny lime green butterflies
Not just butterflies but tiny lime green ones. Plain lime green, no patterns, no special designs, just a simple, minty fresh goodness with wings. I used to see many of these every morning while walking to school and they weren't the type of butterfly that flew away when someone came near. They just kept fluttering around, doing their thing. Carefree, careless. Yeah, so there are many colours of butterflies; red, yellow, vermillions-of-colors. But tiny lime green butterflies represent so much more if you think about it. Hope, healing, growth, courage, energy, freedom and a fun freakishness. I love that.

    Edamame
Green beans. Edible. Doesn't taste like onions. Crunchy without crunch, chewy without being gummy. Yum.

    My gold beanbag
The ultimate in slacker technology. I like slinking into it and just laze. It's like having a piece of furniture that is moulded to fit the user perfectly - no matter who the user. It's gold and snazzy so when I'm not using it, it's like a big chunk of gold sitting right there in my room. I'll never be rich, but I sure as hell like to feel rich.

    Being right
Because I like to say "I told you so."

The End of The Affair by Graham Greene
Officially the only book about love and human relationships that is not about love and human relationships. It's a book about hate, jealousy, God, death, possession. I like that it questions our meaningless, insignificant existence. I like that it scrutinizes the complexities of conflicting emotions, the paradox of wanting to choose two directions until we get lost in between. I like that it shows irony playing such a big roles in our lives. Graham Greene is a genius. Twisted, shattered, dark, insightful, and tragic... But still a genius.

Soap and shampoo that smell like fruits
Because nothing is better than feeling as delicious as strawberries, mangoes, peaches, apples and apricots. Who needs to be hot when you could just be juicy?

    Having pens of every color
Black and blue are too dull, too boring. I like writing in multicolor. Orange headers, yellow subtext, pink sidenotes. I like that I can find what I want to read easily. I like that if I stare at my notes without reading, it starts to resemble abstract art in linear lines. I can phase out with a visualization of color instead of dull black blue.

    My MX 518 mouse
Comfortable, fast, slides around smoothly, has extra buttons, velvety to the touch and has a semi-hourglass shape, sensitive easy clicks that react almost attentively under my fingertips. It just seems sexy... somehow.

    Cheetahs
I like their speed and vulnerability. Sheer graceful velocity but at the end of the day, their survival is doomed on the fact that their light build for running makes them easy targets for enemies. Just shows that if you can run and do that well, having a talent like that just makes you a slave to it. I like paradoxes like that.
